Police have detained five suspected Islamic State militants who were allegedly planning to carry out attacks in the Turkish capital of Ankara during New Year’s Eve celebrations, the state-run news agency reported Tuesday. Anti-terrorism police detained the five foreign nationals in early morning raids on their homes, Anadolu Agency reported. The detentions are part of a nationwide police security sweep across the country ahead of the New Year.
